The Role

AMERGINT is seeking a Junior Hardware Systems Engineer who is passionate about working closely with customers to solve difficult mission-critical challenges. In this important role, you will be working on the system design and documentation to create the AMERGINT customer defined solution. We empower our people, and we give them the space to thrive. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, scope, and implement technical solutions that scale across AMERGINT products and customer set
  • Communicate and collaborate across the engineering team and product owners
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions and work with the senior hardware system engineering team members on designs
  • Work with the production team to identify issues with the documentation packages, BOMs, and build instructions needed to keep the AMERGINT hardware platforms accurate
  • Help define and prioritize tasks with guidance from senior engineers and management
  • Provide review and feedback during system design reviews
  • Continuously improve, adapt, and grow
  • Support prototype development and test in a laboratory environment; collaborate with other disciplines, including electrical engineering, firmware, and test

Required Skills

  • Recent college graduate with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-3 years of work related experience
  • Create detailed block diagrams and system level documentation with limited assistance
  • Make component selections
  • Basic knowledge around printed circuit board design
  • Ability to review part vendor specifications and provide second source component selection information
  • Use test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Support business development with specification reviews and engineering estimates
  • Work closely with other team members and contribute to design review presentations
  • Passionate about fostering good engineering practices and processes
  • Willingness to learn new technology and approaches
  • Understanding of testing principles and design for test capabilities
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with an eye for detail and thoroughness
  • Component knowledge and experience
  • Experience with version control tools, such as SVN
  • Previous experience with telemetry and satellite communications
  • May need to obtain and maintain a security clearance for this position

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to learn how to translate customer specifications into hardware designs
  • Experience with circuit design tools such as OrCAD
  • Experience with networking protocols
  • Programming languages: C/C++, Python, VHDL, Verilog
  • Familiar with telemetry and satellite communications
