The Role

AMERGINT is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to assist in our Finance & Accounting Department. To ensure success, Staff Accountants should be critical thinkers, proficient in math and accurate with a solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices. Top candidates will have outstanding report writing skills with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and procedures, and federal and state regulations
  • Manage Payroll for the Company
    • Weekly Timecard Submission
    • Maintain accurate records for employee information and benefits
    • Resolve Payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll questions
  • Manage Accounts Payable
    • Review & Process Invoices to ensure following company policies and procedures
    • Ensure bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner
    • Weekly Check run
  • Vendor Correspondence
    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with new and existing vendors
    • Review Monthly Statements for accuracy
  • Assist in financial and tax audits
  • Assist in Corporate reporting requirements
  • Complete end of month close procedures
    • Monthly journal entries for unaccounted expenses
    • Account Reconciliations
  • Manage Expense Reports
    • Review and Process employee expenses
    • Ensure Company Policies & FAR regulations are being followed
  • Manage Company Travel Program
    • Work with Company Travel Agency
    • Maintain accurate employee records
    • Maintain accurate G/L records

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in an accounting, specifically Accounts Payable and Payroll
  • May need to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent report writing, communication and IT skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and Accounting software packages (Costpoint)
  • Experience with Costpoint Accounting System preferred but not required
  • Experience with Concur Travel System
  • Experience with Sales and Use Tax compilation and filings
